One of the first steps making a beautiful nursery is by choosing bedding.  While the rest will be what your baby looks at most of the time, this is where he or she will be sleeping, laying, and spending all their time. Its crucial then that its comfortable, cute, and well made.

Don’t make the mistake of buying furniture first.  If you do this you may end up finding out that none of the bedding matches it.  Or that the only matches are for specific colors of furniture that you didn’t happen to purchase.

There really aren’t many factors to consider with bedding.  You have the obvious color and style, fabric, and price.  Each of these has a place in your overall decision making process though none should be the end all.  Take them all into consideration, pick out several ones and then decide.  Or perhaps even buy a few sets.

Color and style are more important than most realize until the need arises to start buying.  I find it amazing how colors and patterns can stimulate a child’s learning.  Have you noticed how children become captivated by a vibrant or brightly colored picture?  Also brighter bedding looks better with lightly colored furniture.  Softer colors and patterns look best with darker tones.

Background features, while not primary, can make or break the mood of a nursery and therefore are noteworthy considerations.  Whats on the walls affects how the bedding looks in the room.  Making sure not to have poca-dots on the bedding when stripes are the predominant wall pattern for instance.  Wall Murals and art can really help to bring the room alive with varying patterns, colors and scenes for you child’s amusement and imagination.
