There are few exceptions where a purchasing decision is easier to make than with buying baby bibs. Afterall its just something they spit or throw up on. What can be so hard with putting down something you dont care about and let it get messy. How often do you get to do that? Its party time all over again. That in mind there are a few things to keep in mind when you do look at baby bibs.
1) First and foremost is absorbancy. Bibs made from cotton, terry or wool will be the most absorbent. They will absorb all the mess, while keeping the baby as clean as possible (and you as well). Check the package or feel the fabric to ensure its not only highly absorbant, but also quickly absorbent.
2) Our second criteria is: washable. You will want to be able to wash it. Its going to be subject to easy to clean matter and tough material as well. An easily cleanable bib should be given preference as its going to be treated badly, continually be assaulted tp absorb things needing cleaning later. This will help keep your baby wearing a clean bib and look fresh always.
3) The 3rd factor to look for is size. Baby bibs that are to short dont prevent enough mess. A bib that is to wide will get in the way more often than desired, both for the child and you. If deciding on a fancy shaped and cut bib ensure that it extends down far enough to cover the maximum danger areas.
4) Next but not least is comfort. If the bib is to small with a little neck line then you run the risk of suffocation, particularly at night when sleeping. To avoid this get necklines that are not to small or to deep. If at all possible try it on the baby to make sure it has a good fit. Soft fabric around the neck will also make sure no rashes occur.
5) Finally lets take a look at material used in the baby bib. Baby bibs made of vinyl can pose serious health risks. Vinyl creates a much more absorbant bib however it contains lead and for babies born very delicate this can be dangerous.
6) Baby bibs cost very little and are used for preserving the babies clothes. They run around a dollar to ten dollars apiece. Their are lots of different options to choose from, plain, fancy, single or packs of up to 7, and many more options.
While not necessary to the survival of your child bibs are necessary to protect their skin from food, moisture and the affects of them. Bibs generally have cute sayings written on them and can make for a fun shopping experience.
